Land! What would you like to grow?
« on: August 01, 2011, 10:31 »
Simple question - you've got 1000 sq meters of flat, sandy, reasonable good drained soil. No shadows on the plot from the morning till sunset. You have all tools and machines to process the soil and enough time to do that.

What would you like to grow?

Thanks in advance

Soil and aspect sound good so decide how much you want to devote to veg areas - don't grow too much that you can't eat or put in the freezer. Remaining areas could be used for an orchard consisting of fruit bushes or trees. Also, perhaps a hen pen or two??
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Apart from the obvious point already made about growing things you like to eat, it might be a good idea to try and grow stuff not readily available in Japan (climate permitting!)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

That's very good point. On my list - potatoes(you don't need freezer to store them), beetroot(hell, yeah! I have seeds now and can plant end of august), chilli peppers/capsicum, onion, carrot. All of them quite easy to store and i have enough space for that - double garage and old style farm house.
