Over last two days 4 out of 8 eggs have hatched under broody.....why only 4? or is this a normal percentage?

This morning got up to find that the 4th had arrived during the night, the broody had moved all 4 away from the other eggs and had actualy scattered the eggs around the "house"...the eggs were completely cold.  Deceideing I had nothing to loose I opened one of the eggs...just smelly fluid?

As a complete novice I have no idea what normal is.  the little chicks all look fiine, they are moving around and eating and mum cuddles them back up when they go up to her...ahhhhhhh

4/8  ain't bad :)

under a broody I would've thought youd get more but it all depends where the eggs were from etc

Can't wait for piccies though :)

All four chickens doing well.......at the moment they are in a small hen house with run....the run has wooden sides about a foot high before the netting starts, plus netting lid...question....at what stage do I take mum away from them, they are only 5 days old at the moment and although outside for a lot of the time they still cuddle up under mum....

She doesn't seem to mind being in there with them, she usually lives in a eglu cube and has free range of the garden all day every day...the other hens keep coming for a chat with her and looking at the babies.....
