I normally get the first crop of greenhouse grown new spuds last week in April or first week in May but this year it was the last week in May before I got anything worthwhile. Been harvesting outdoor ones for a couple of weeks now. The pic shows 1.4kg of Lady C from 3 plants in a grow sack. Not a great yield I know but the whole point of new potatoes is to get...new potatoes.

I got this lot from a sad looking Pentland Javelin plant on Wednesday. The yield wasn't great but I think they've only been in for 9 weeks. We made a potato bake that afternoon and had that with some chicken and our own salad.  :D

The foliage on my PJ's is only 7 inches high, but my Charlotte's which have been in 12 weeks are racing ahead.

Has anyone ever pulled a Charlotte at the 12 week stage? If so what type of crop did you get?

Thanks

Yes! ! Happy days! First spuds of the year. I took the plunge and dug a plant up and was pleased to find a very good sized crop of egg sized Accent. Just cleaned them now ready to go with lunch of spring lamb. Checked the Casablanca but they are nowhere near ready. I was very surprised at how wet the ground is so just need the warmth back now.
Also picked some broad beans and mint for the sauce. Can't wait

well there are loads of us pulling/digging our spuds.......its hard to resist especially when the leeks are nearly ready to go into the early potato area.  loads of lovely photos of those hard earned tasty delights

fatbelly - my charlottes were 11 weeks and a few were starting to flower, they were bigger than my arran piltots
which went in slightly earlier, so go for it, especially if youve had some heavy rain lately.

no more pricey supermarket spuds for a while :)
