storing root crops
« on: October 21, 2010, 15:20 »
hi I am fairly new to growing but have had a bumper harvest.  Unfortunately my carrots and beetroot have gone rubbery within a few days of me lifting them to store.  Does anyone know what I might have done wrong?

Welcome to the site  :D

I'm going to move this across to the Cooking Storing Preserving board, but feel free to pop back into the Welcome forum and introduce yourself.

Until someone specifically answers your question, you'll find some useful articles on the main website here:

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I don't lift to store, just let them sit in the ground overwinter.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

You can store them in moist sand :) :D
