Title: advice on buying a polytunnel
Post by: sreidy82 on June 12, 2011, 17:58
I am not sure this is in the correct area but any advice would be welcomed.  I want to buy a poly tunnel, my allotment is in quite a windy area and I wondered if anyone could give me some advice on the best one to buy and if there are any sites worth checking out.  i dont really want to spend much more than £150 but I have quite a large space I could place it on.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Wyevale have some in at the moment about £80 reduced from £120 the frame looked quite strong nuts and bolts rather than the plastic fitting's. I would have got one if i didnt have the greenhouse's.

hi there, this is my first year as a polytunnel owner, there are a few options to your question,i did quite a bit of research and FIRST TUNNELS i decided was going to be my option i thought the price was reasonable with an excellant website with building instructions and advice on growing, but then i decided to go on ebay and bid on quite a few tunnels,i finally won a frame 10 by 20 in cambridge, a long way i know but i did get it for 50 quid i then bought all the fixtures, fittings and sheet from FIRST TUNNELS.
my site is windy all the time so it needed to be exceptionlly strong, the strength in a poly is definatley in the building of it,my tubes are 28mm and i have put on plenty of cross members and really pulled everything together,i could have flung it up in a day but i took four days to do it to make sure i wasnt missing anything out and it was as tight as i could get it.the thought of having to start from the beginning after been blown down filled me with dread.hope some of this helps.
