climbing beans
« on: August 13, 2020, 19:03 »

Hello, I'm new to the site. and I wonder if you could help me.
During the night my bean frame collapsed . If I cut the beans down a bit and replace the frame, will they continue growing.

Kind regards Mary

Hi Mary, and welcome!
Sorry to hear your bean supports have collapsed.
If you put the sticks back in and tie securely, then you should be able to grow them on.
I would try to wind the beans back around the sticks gently and tie back on.
Where the main stems have broken, just take the broke bits off, and the remaining plant will probably still produce beans, but not at great height.
It's worth doing though .. Good luck!
Why did i put 4 courgette plants in..

Welcome to the forum :)
Try to fix/prop it all up without damaging the beans too much, if you can.
If they lose a bit of top growth they should be ok, but it's a bit late to expect them to regrow from much further down. Good luck!

Good morning torimori,   just remember when rewinding your beans that the beanstalks! circle the sticks anticlockwise when viewed from above.

Cheers,  Tony.

No names no pack drill but an engineering person I used to know thought that if you turned a nut over you got a left hand threaded nut! ! !

Cheers,  Tony.

Why does that seem a reasonable assumption! Over the years when working on cars, it has often become an issue. Often you'll encounter LH threads around the hub areas.
It's amazing how a simple bean plant always winds the same way.. It would have 'been' a good topic for Magnus Pike on 'HOW' back in the 70's.

??   ???

Tony, it is possible that your engineer acquaintance was a left-hand threaded nut!
