Gooseberries - no fruit
« on: June 27, 2014, 18:07 »
My gooseberry bushes are very leafy and branched but I spotted only two fruits forming and no sign of anything budding. I don't remember many if any flowers.

Too much Nitrogen?
Do they need a hard pruning for next year maybe?

Are they new plants - if so, they maybe haven't formed fruiting spurs this year. If not, were they pruned correctly last year? They are pruned like redcurrants, whereas blackcurrants are pruned differently.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
