Think that this is the link that will be the most use - http://www.allotment-garden.org/fruit/gooseberries-growing/ (http://www.allotment-garden.org/fruit/gooseberries-growing/)
The RHS says "In late winter, feed with a balanced granular fertiliser at 100g per sq m (31/2oz per sq yd). Avoid feeding the plants with too much nitrogen because this can encourage sappy growth, which is prone to gooseberry mildew."

Sulphate of potash. A good handful or two sprinkled around each plant depending on how big it is. Potash is helpful for many fruit bushes but it is essential for gooseberries as they suffer from a lack of it. You'll get sulphate of potash from most garden centres and it's not expensive.
