Title: first chocks
Post by: Gary on April 12, 2008, 21:58
Hi all
Took charge of my first chocks yesterday, went to the allotment before work around 6 am this morning just to check    ,every thing going to plan 4 on the perch ,1 in a nest box and the other just having a look round (Happy days).
Feeding well and looking inquisitive ,had thier first look at the out side world today (its full of wiggly things and green things you can eat)  :D

7 ft high, i think they will be fine,

you can clip their wings and no it wont hurt, if done properly.

im sure there's a link on here somewhere about wing clipping.

i'll post it if i find it, but im sure someone (aunty) knows exactly where it is

:D Hi Gary you'll love your chooks, they are very funny to watch.  you can clip their wings if you like, and no it doesn't hurt.  Just the flight feathers though on one wing only.  Don't think they'll get over 7ft though?  Someone else might be able to help more on that one.
Enjoy :D

Cheers Babe

I,ve had to smile at some of thier antics ,picking at sun light and stuggling with a worm ,Im handling them every day getting them used to a 15 stoner hushering them in to thier coup every night ,but there's always the last one who decides that its not time yet (a bit like a 4 year old )

Hi Gary, yeah sounds like you're not too far from me.  Watching the girls today was funny when all that hail came down, I think they thought it was food falling from the sky!  They are sooooo funny and inquisitive, always there when I go out to see what's happening.  Just be patient and it won't be long before you get your first egg, I'm getting 2 a day now and waiting for 1 girl to come into lay, it's so exciting.

Enjoy :D
