Fence paint

I was told that in general fence preservative supplied in a plastic container would have less preservative properties than ones in a metal container.
The reasoning was that the higher the level of preservative the more likely the plastic would be affected (disintegrate I presume).
Is there any truth in that?

Don't know about that sorry. but I would have thought thicker plastic would work as well as metal.

I've asked my husband as he owns a DIY shop and he tends to agree with you.  All the solvent based preservatives come in metal tins and the water based ones in plastic.  He did also point out that water based ones in a m etal can would rust (and then, knowing our luck,) leak all over the floor!.
