Don't be silly sparky, there's not enough meat on them for a curry!

Some people like rescuing spent hens.  I've even done it myself in the past.  They make good pets

As you need to donate £2.50 per hen I think you would be better off at your local supermarket.

and I have - the idea of getting them is to stop them becoming dog food etc and to give them a chance to be like our hens, happy and outdoors, to see the sun rather than artificial light and the chance to dust bathe, chase insect etc  :).
Staffies are softer than you think.

Funnily enough I have applied to rescue some hens from this website today, wanted to do it for years but felt I needed some experience in hen keeping first, husband was all for it which was a major surprise.  Hopefully I will pass the criteria and have some new girls in a couple of weeks time!

while I know some of you regard them as pet's and I have no problem with that ! I was in agriculture for too long to regard them as anything other than a  crop. I know this may upset some people , but we have to look at reality's ! Many rely on cheap chicken meat rightly or wrongly . I was in a farm shop today , and I am not going to pay £12 for a small free range chicken  !

When you get rescues you usually have to sign something that says that you are going to provide them with a home for the rest of their natural life.
