Title: Turks Turban
Post by: ytyynycefn on September 21, 2006, 18:57
Has anyone eaten one of these odd squash?  I cooked one for tea last night, cut in half, stuffed with spicy rice and mozzarella with a bit of sesame oil on top and baked for a couple of hours. There's a pic in the album (http://www.allotment-garden.org/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=321) in case you've not seen one before.

I was expecting a taste and texture a bit like butternut, but it was exactly like....  MASH!!     Fabulous with butter and black pepper.

Is it supposed to be like that, or was it not fully ripe?  We've had no ill effects, in fact I felt better this morning than I have for a few days!  Strange.
