That was on a thread I started about home heating bills David, (well remembered!) but I can't remember who's bills were so high...

Was it on this thread.....?

Not looked through it all to see who it might be.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Our provincial energy company is almost finished installing new electricity meters, which will click in sometime later in 2008. The new meters are pre-programmed to bill you for off-hour rates as well as peak-hour rates. (all peak at the moment, drat!). The idea is to shock/startle/frighten people into thinking about when they use power and how much they use. Needless to say, 5 star energy saving major appliance sales are booming right now - but not timers or alarm clocks.

I  was amazed at that as well and posted:

Quote from: "David."
in last 12 months we used 8,700 off peak units @ £0.0257/unit  = £223.59 total (incl VAT), and in addition to heating/hot water, that includes loads of nightime washing machine/dishwasher/early morning cooking/etc. use.

Are you really paying 23p for one unit of daytime electricity?  If so, that is scandalous since ours is about 8.5p

[apologies for posting this during daytime rates]

David are you going to tell us which energy company you're with?  We're thinking of switching and want a cheap night right (but also a cheap day rate hopefuelly.

I believe David is with Telecomplus now known as Utility warehouse LINK, I was with them for years but have now changed as they are no longer the cheapest, try http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/ for some really good advice, don't forget prices are set to rocket up shortly

Thanks Richy, it says not to switch now and to wait and see how things are after the price rises have settled.
