hi, could somebody please tell me the make and model this engine is

Briggs and Stratton,there should be some sets of numbers stamped onto the engine cover and if you post them here you should get conformation of model.

were on the engine will the numbers be stamped as ive had a quick look but cant see any

They're usually on the engine cowling, near where the spark plug is.

Also try on the flywheel case/engine cowl  where the governor rod goes behind  it to the air vein.
