Its all gone pear shaped
« on: July 27, 2023, 21:00 »
:( Looking very much like the mass of rain we had is taking its toll!

Just walked round the site and loads of different veg, plants going yellow. Greenhouses are now full of dying tomatoes.

Hoping me spuds survive but they are turning yellow too!

We had over 80mm of rain over two days, the site was pretty much flooded Monday & Tuesday.

On the bright side, pUnk festival next week, 4 days with my extended family ;)
Punk isn't dead...it's underground where it belongs. If it comes to the surface it's no longer punk...it's Green Day!

Oh Aidy - what a bougoir for you. Am just oop norf from you and have to say my Foremost pots in pots have managed to get through the dry spell despite daily watering and seem to have escaped the dreaded blight, my snaps have not been very productive, my D. F. beans have flowers at last, my Joan J rasps are taking over and need a good sorting out next year, and my two types of leeks are doing ok. The two greenhouse toms (Sakura) are nicely productive but my sweet corn have gone bananas!  All have produced tassels and silks so I've been a-tapping the stems daily to release the pollen, plus about three now have side tillers with tassels and silks so I'm a-tapping again. That's me lot for the veg and fruit except for our inherited plum tree which is being rather prolific. Please, I'm so not swanking as I haven't grown many veg but, like my flower garden, so many things have taken ages to get going that I wondered if I was going to get anything to harvest before October!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Your mention of "pear-shaped" touches a nerve. Despite my apple-trees being laden, my two Conference Pear trees are, for the first time since I planted them about 12 years ago, totally barren. Must be something to do with the late spring drought

Dwarf green beans, I had just 5.  I have left all the plants, so that I remember not to grow them next year.  :(
Hope you enjoy the festival though Aidy.      Mrs Bouquet

Have a lovely time  :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
