Oh no no no . Break's all regulation's.

Does it? As with all these grey area solutions its not a permanent circuit so do ANY regs actually apply?

Thing is guys, regulations are there for a reason, your safety and anyone else on your property. When it does go bang you may find yourself open to prosecution and your insurance company doing a runner.

Now there's a thought. What an interesting question.

I used blue water piping underground and wire, just put a plug on the end and drill hole though wall near plug and plug in. Mastic around hole. Sorted.

Years ago, whe I was a plumber, that's just about what I would do.  ;)
Oh no no no . Break's all regulation's. Must be a minimum of 500mm deep bedded in sand with tile's or tape above indicating Buried Live Cable. Being Outside It must be connected to a maximum 30ma RCD . Also blue pipe is not recommended as it is the European colour for water.

Its connected to a 30ma rcd from power box and fused plugs, all it is basically an extension lead with protection and plus going to remove once I move as it was expensive wire.

Good for you Bill - wouldn't want the new occupants to dig it up and flog it!

On a serious (safety rule) note here's the set up inside my aviary shed - all run from a correctly rated trip socket indoors via a regulation over-head supporting wire in correctly protected and marked sheathing.

Must paint that bit in the top corner.  ::)

I believe that installing electric outside as suggested here may well need to be signed off under Building Regs these days.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Wedging? Certainly not.  It's on a hinge and clips / clicks into open position as well as closed.

But... I guess I should run an extension lead to plug my nite-light into?

One RCD per circuit.  Preferably at the main box.  If not in the main box then put one in a socket and run an extension lead.  Just remove it when you sell the house.
