He is bigger than he looks in the photo, passported at 16.1, and quite chunky.

Wow... how tall is your husband, or is Big Murph standing in a hole!

I'm very jealous about the size of your stables *sigh*

I did think similar!

Happy horsey days Tosca  :D

Husband is 6'2", but have to say Murphy looks small in there. These stables were where he came from. His new stable is 15'x15', we have put rubber matting in and shavings on half, so he can choose when he comes in. There are only four stables on the yard, with individual paddocks if you want them, a rubber arena, jumping paddock and all the lovely clean hay you want. And you can ride in the fields too.
Sorry about all the pictures.

His paddock is next to even bigger Murphy...17.2

Have the "girls" met him yet, or are they going to?  :)

Definitely want to get them up there soon, Bella is scared of horses and cows so it will be good for her. Unfortunately, at the moment, there is a woman with unruly kids there who wants to take her dalmatian, which would not be a good idea so has been told no. She will be leaving soon though.

Murphy is absolutely gorgeous, lovely pics. He looks like an Irish Draught, kind, strong and utterly dependable. Good luck with him.  :D

Oh he's a gem!  I love solid looking horses and he's definately one of those.
Apologies for shrinking him by over a hand and guessing welsh, he's just got such a fine head from the profile picture!

I do hope you're thinking of showing him, at least on a local level  :)

I can't wait to see him with his tack on as they look different again  :)

You're right, he has a lovely head for his size. As for looking like a Welsh cob, it struck me yesterday that the fact he looks like a larger version of my old welsh D driving pony must be why I fell for him at first glance. Same colour, four whites(though Fred's were shorter) and similar face markings, even face shape.

Unfortunately I will never be able to show him as he has a large scar on one leg (not just a blemish) He was very cheap, but so far, the only things we can find wrong is this scar, a slight curb  and splint found on his vetting, and his feet need attention. Providing he doesn't prove unridable we have a bargain!

He's beautiful, tiny blemishes, marks and all  :) I never showed my cob (didn't have the nerve to do ridden classes in front of people!) but I've shown my mum's Welsh D in hand and ridden dad's Hanovarian x Dales in tack and turn out (but that's not really riding is it?!).

Are you shoeing or going down the barefoot line?  If you don't have tons of road work to do it may be worth keeping him barefoot and it might help with the pennies?

More pictures soon please, I think Murph may get himself a fan club!  :D

I had every intention of going down the "natural" line, as in living out 24/7 12 months, and going barefoot, but because he has not really been looked after his feet are not fit enough to work and recover, but with good shoeing and a good supplement the vet says she doesn't see why he can't go barefoot in the future. We will see what the farrier says on Monday. I found a lovely place to have a horse living out before we bought Murphy, but he is the wrong sex, she wanted a mare. Where we are is great for winter riding with the arena and fields to use in bad light, but when the weather turns they have to come in at night.

Have to admit I am not competitive, and although I did a little showing 30 years ago with my old mare, I let someone else do any jumping or dressage.

I have a short video of my unhorsey OH making friends with Murphy (only 24 hours after he was delivered). Rather ruined by the sound of the motorway and clicking of electric fence, which to the naked ear is not that loud.

Hope this works!
