Chicken Manure Pellets
« on: July 27, 2012, 07:41 »
Is it too late in the season to throw some chicken manure pellets on the allotment? I do have crops growing but with all the rain we have had I’m not sure if the goodness has been washed away from the soil.

Depends on what you are growing. Leaf crops will benefit but fruiting crops would prefer a balanced fertiliser such as growmore of fish blood and bone.

Like any dried fertiliser it will get to work quicker if hoed into the soil and watered in - don't use it on areas that are bare and will remain so throughout the winter as most would be wasted.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
