you could try offering the pekin hen with a cockerel and the other 2 as freebies on either preloved or gumtree as they are both free to advertise

Well the the little chicks are now approaching 6 weeks old...

They are slightly apporaching "an ugly duckling stage".

It looks as though I have 3 boys and 3 girls.... (anyone looking for a pekin bantam cockrel!!)

I really only had plans if I had an even number of girls.  2 girls I'd keep them both.  If i'd got 4 girls I'd rehome 2 and keep 2.  But 3 is confusing me!  I wouldn't want to rehome just one on their own as that's not right... I'd really like to keep at least 2.

I only have a standard eglu so whilst I'd be ok with 5 in there I'm not sure there's room for 6 (I have 3 adults already).

Anyhow, they had their first adventure out in the garden at the weekend,  they seems to enjoy themeselves and were incredably cute, although I had to keep counting to 6 to make sure I hadn't lost any as they are still quite small!

Hannah :)

Are you able to add on the housing you have been using for the chicks? :)
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!

Hi,

There some lovely photos of my chicks in the in the swap shop are, but alas no interest in them (I have offered elsewhere).

Unfortunatly one of the cockerels is starting to crow so is going to have to go asap really (also they are eating waaayy to much food!!), it doesn't bother me but I don't want my neighbours to have anything to complain about.

I know I said I had it all sorted... but is there anyone in the area that could help me with this.  I really think I should have sorted as soon as I knew they were boys but kind of put it off... (they are the prettiest after all).

Many thanks

Hannah

p.s. you have permission to say "I told you so"

Thanks

Sorry you are faced with this, I think I'd be just the same.

Can't offer any help with dispatching I'm afraid, but if you have anyone going broody in future, I've become quite adept at reversing the broody hormones and getting the hen back to normal.
Not that being broody isn't normal! But you know what I mean.

Hope someone can help you out. If not then I'd be off to the vet. :(

I know, having pekins for a few years I'm used to broodiness.  I wasn't my main reason for hatching - just a timing co-incidence...

Many thanks :)

On the swap page is a place in Nuneaton which will take what you don't need.
