Thompson and Morgan - Poor service
« on: March 21, 2019, 21:38 »
Ordered 24 raspberry canes last week supposedly for delivery this week nothing turned up.  Tried to contact them and very poor comms.

If it were not late March I wouldn't be worried but I want to get them is asap and the lack of timely delivery and no communication as to the order isn't impressing me much.

45 mins waiting this morning listening to lift music... >:(

Did you have a specific delivery date, or just a week?

I only ask because there are two more days when deliveries might happen this week …  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I was a very loyal customer of T&M for some 40 years and bought nearly all my seeds from them every year.
Last autumn I ordered some raspberry canes, strawberries and garlic The raspberries arrived on time, but no sign of the rest. I waited till the end of the month and then phoned Customer Service, to be told that any delivery dates had a 2 week leeway in them.
So 2 weeks later I honed again to be told there had been a crop failure and the strawberries would be despatched in the spring.
The following day they were on my doorstep...some crop failure!
The garlic arrived in February.
The impression I get from this and other forums is that the seed side of the business is still fine, but the plants side is a disaster.
I have now started using a different supplier, and no problems so far!

Email their customer service dept as well.. they do sometimes look at them and will want to put things right

OR see who else has canes and then cancel your T&M order

Not sure if you use social media (I don't) but I know people who have had a much quicker response from customer services when post something negative on Facebook or Twitter.

Plot 1, it's Customer service that is the source of the problem.
I've spoken to them, completed the survey of customer satisfaction and still not received any communication at all!

I stopped using them years ago because not only were their seeds getting expensive, their plants left a lot to be desired. With my last order I was given a free tray of busy-lizzies which were mostly either broken or wilted. Never again!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Got an email from them this morning saying ETA end of March.  If this was a small business struggling to get on I would have been OK with waiting but for a large business like theirs to offer 3 day delivery and then to say oops sorry it's going to be a couple/few weeks I'd had enough and cancelled the order.

They then sent me an email saying they had refunded the payment but it was too late to cancel delivery!!!  Odd!!!

So possibly there are some canes turning up FOC.  But I don't really know if they will turn up or not and I wanted to get the things stuck in the ground ASAP....

Will have to wait now and see if they turn up.

T&M got my last order some years ago when the lavender plants I had ordered were mouldy and rotten on receipt, and a lot of the seed germination was very poor indeed.  Yes, they replaced the plants, but the ones they sent as replacements weren't very wonderful, and I can do without having to wait around for phones to be answered and replacements to arrive. The job should be done properly in the first place.

JParkers have Yodel come to their plant warehouse here, great when they stop on the main road and I wave for them to drive up and then direct them.....the road fits one car. Website is cheaper than their garden centre.

I have placed my last order with T&M and Van Meuwan, who seem to be the same company. They just don't stick to their planned dates. When I eventually got through to them last time, my order arrived within two days. This time, they don't even reply which is all I want, even if to say we forgot.

The latest from T&M is they have refunded the original order and said keep the canes when they arrive...that's all very well as a 'gift' but I have no idea if or when they will arrive so I don't know whether to order from my usual dependable supplier Rogers of Pickering.  I'd rather they just refund and then I know where I am.

I think I will stick an order in with Rogers just to make sure...

I'd order from Roger's because I presume they've given you good service before, and goodness knows what quality and condition your canes will be in if you ever do get them from T&M.
