hello everyone! Could anyone tell me is it safe to give vegetable peelings such as carrot and potato raw? Somebody told me that i should cook them is this true?

My hens don't really like carrot peelings raw but if it's grated small they will. Yes your friend is right you will need to cook the potato skins.

thank you for that however why should the potato peelings be cooked? Is there something harmful in raw peelings?

Oh, I'm no horticulturist but basically chickens are like us and cannot digest root vegetables well. Have you ever tried eating a raw potato..yuck I'm sure.

Also note that green potatoes are just as toxic to hens as they are to us.  So no green peelings please!
