Any hope for these plugs?
« on: May 07, 2014, 15:00 »
Terrible quality / packing / delivery - company to be named and shamed depending on their response to my email.  You can see that the plastic carton hasn't been damaged in transit which means they were packed and sent like it !

Any hope for these at all? Im a little concerned about the black blotches on the leaves.

They look terrible!

But what are they?

They look like hollyhocks to me.

They look terrible!

Yes - I'm not impressed either, I'd be ashamed if I was sending out products like it.

But what are they?

They're Coleus Canina at £1.50+ delivery a plug !

Looks like they have been kicking around in transit for a long time. Very unacceptable.  Hopefully they will send you replacements Larders. If not I look forward to your full disclosure !

Well they've got 2 choices obviously, but a very poor chance I would say. I occasionally almost succumb to buying plugs but on seeing them am glad that I hold back :(.  I think if you can you are better off going to the RHS shows, the specialist nursery men are there with wonderful plants & some very unusual plants. It's the Malvern Spring show this week. Why don't you give it a go, not that far from you Lardy.

They are awful   You need a full refund or replacement for those.

But ........ Coleus canina is a pretty strong growing plant, so the ones that still have baby leaves on are worth potting up  ;)  They went into the packaging very wet and the larger leaves have rotted in the humidity.  It is just that though, not a fungal disease that will spread, now the blotched leaves are off  :)

Course, as far as the supplier is concerned, they went straight in the bin  ;)

They are in a dreadful state. Whomever you got them from ought to be ashamed.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

So far they've not even had the decency to acknowledge my email - let alone reply to it.

I've potted them up , 2 had been snapped below the cotyledons so they're not going to recover, but if those black splotches aren't a fungus or virus I'll hang on to the 4 and see if they recover.

I would be surprised if they don't recover if the stems are still intact. They still look green and the roots look fine. But they should not arrive like this of course and you should receive a refund no matter whether they recover or not. I would assume you will get the refund, even though they are slow to reply. A phone call will settle it probably immediately.
Success,
Maarten
