bent toes
« on: March 27, 2009, 16:00 »
Hello everyone. Question,  I bought a couple of young roos, and one of them has bent toes on both feet.  I wanted to use them for breeding, the man said take all or none, so I  have this one with the bent toes, and wasn't sure if it would show up in the chicks if I bred him to one of my hens.  I am wanting to take him to the auction today if that is the case.  Any quick answers would be appriated.  yf Betty

Hi Betty

From what I can gather bent/curly toes can come from a vitamin B deficiency in the parent stock.
I therefore presume that if you feed him & the hens good food with a bit of extra Vit B from yeast tablet or similar then it should be ok ???

Not 100% sure though ???

Sarah :)

Thank you.  I wasn't sure.  I just didn't want it to show up in the chicks if I bred him.  I got them as back up roos.   yf  Betty
