hi,,ive been given some champagne rhubarb crowns,a chap near my plot is leaving,is it ok to dig it out now,if i dont ill lose it,also when i replant it,will it be lcassed as 1st year again  thanx all

I was given two crowns last year and had nowhere to put them so I just planted them on the corner and replanted them this spring. I haven't taken any sticks off because I wanted the plants to be well established.
Depends on the quality of the root system. Mine was not very good.

Given the circumstances, dig it now and immediately pot it up if you haven't space to plant out yet. I suspect they'll get enough water. If they're going into a permanent place later, give the planting hole lots of rotted manure, some Bone meal and  a bit of fertilizer to get it rooting well. I wouldn't pick anything next year as it's still settling in roots.
