I recently won a great item on E-Bay.... Middleton's all the year round Gardening Guide. It's fantastic!! Printed in the war years.....with Digging for Victory foremost in mind, a week by week guide on how to grow your fruit and veggies....a lot of chemicals used..most of which I've never heard of. An absolute humdinger of a read

At the bottom of the open pages he writes little words of wisdom...ie:
"There's nothing to be gained by rushing out with a spade and turning everything upside down in a few hours ".
and..
"A seed is one of the wonders of the world"......

I'm sure they must be. The ad's are absolutely fab!! "RITO multiplies all allotment and garden crops".

The paper it's printed on is 3 different types!! Brilliant!

Cool, I love eBay I'm off to look for a copy.

Personally I love the copies of Adam the Gardener I have bought for about £5. They were a series of cartoon strips and articles published in the Sunday Express in the 50s - 70s. They are excellent and almost each one is different and topical to date, some of the techniques are a bit non-pc nowadays however. Sodium Chlorate rules OK!
