The plot I have has had a half tonne of muck 3 winter's ago and nothing since-i'm gonna grow some gear this year but it of any use to put muck on now- empty/during growing or not at all until everything is harvested,I know it maybe depends on what I'm gonna plant so this year will mainly be Tatties,onions,brassicas,carrots etc...any ideas? thanks RnL

Muck everything except the roots.  Half a ton is only 5 decent barrowloads, i.e. nothing at all.  I'd put that much in a decent lengthed drill of tatties.

So I'll get plenty muck then...and put it on everything apart from the root veg-will that be just chuck it on top or dig it in?

bit of both, get it dug so it gets chance to rot down, make sure the stuff you get is well rotted, you can use it as a mulch so long as it is well rotted.

This time of year, I'd mostly dig it in.   I do like to mulch whenever I can but would do this in autumn and winter so that the rain washes in the nutrients (and the worms have a chance to pull it under).

Manure - cow muck from a farmer, horse muck from stables.

Comes out of the north end of a south-bound cow / horse / goat / rabbit / etc.
