This year we've used 500 litres on making a couple of beds better and another 250 litres on seed sowing and potting on. I'd love to find a cheaper alternative to bulk compost purchase than bags of Verve! The problem is you just can't get a like for like comparison...bulk purchases price it by weight and Verve is sold by volume!

375L this year - but I did renew the compost from tomatoes and chillies and use it for my carrot tubs so that's another 80L I didn't buy.

Plus a growbag and 5 bags of soil conditioner.

About 1000lit of verve. Mostly in tomato pots and potato tubs. Also some to lighten up onion beds along with loads of sand. Still need more as havent done hanging baskets for house yet

Ouch wish I hadn't thought about it, but I'm up about 750 litres & probably still need a couple of nerves to finish off. Not to mention still needing about 9 growbags...week, don't tell the missus

About 120 litres so far. Will be using the rest of the bag (making it 140 l) in a day or so, so will probably have to buy another 70 l bag. Shame, as I have two 50 l bags barely started, but they are such poor quality I'm just going to add them to one of my pea and French bean beds.

I've used 10 plus of the big verve bags.  Would you be able to get it cheaper from bnq if bought in bulk? I seem to remember an offer on the website but didn't look into it at the time.

About 800l so far and I haven't even started potting on the toms yet. I used a huge amount topping up my raised beds, I think my garden is sinking!

Various small bags of potting compost and 3x 125L Verve after potting on too many tomatoes and using flower Buckets for potatoes flower - Just about to buy another 3 x 125L sacks of Verve so about 800L seems right at the moment

I used 4 bags of 45 liters so far.

This will increase dramatically once I start potting up my tomatoes and planting them out.

Previous year I was luck because I had lots of my own compost due to receiving stable bedding waste from a nearby petting zoo the year before that. That turned into a nice compost. But nothing this year. So I will need to use more commercial one for planting even at the allotment site.

I have a composter (one at the allotment and one at home) of course, but it never seems to fill due to the normal loss of volume of everything you put in.

I have used roughly 800L so far this year both at home (pretty plants) and on the plot (scoff plants)
Most of the plot compost has gone on potting as I seem to provide most other plot holders with plants.
However this has cost me very little as I have my own very productive compost corner.
I have already riddled and bagged 480L of mix. 40% compost 30% well rotted horse manure 20%top soil, and 10% worm casts ready for next years growing with about the same again ready to be sorted.
!00% organic and nothing has failed to grow this year for a change.

Thanks Barley. I was just about to go searching for a 'recipe'. I take it the sieving is relatively slow going.

not really snoop - just do 6 sieves or so at a time in between other jobs , it soon mounts up 
I sieve mine into plastic dustbins

Nearly 60L of multipurpose for sowing and I've just used 4x27L grow bags for potting on my tomatoes.

Got another 3x27L grow bags to use and might need another 60L of multipurpose to get me through the season.
