Title: Sad Isn't the word!
Post by: AndyRVTR on May 04, 2021, 17:41
So today I had to let our old girl go.. Rea was 14 and she'd had a hard life with one thing and another and I keep telling myself it was the right thing to do but it doesn't feel like it!

It's always sad, no matter why you have to let them go  :(

Oh that is sad  :(

It was the right thing to do.  It never feels that way, but it is the last kindness you can offer to your pets.

A sad time for you all, but you know you did the right thing by her for sure.

I have no words either.  They know when it's time to go she loves you for that decision as much as every other over the time you spent together.

So, I write this with a very, very heavy heart.. unfortunately it was the worst news from the vet, Our gorgeous Lab Daisy has Osteosarcoma in her back right leg and there is no cure and she is too old (10) to operate on. The vet has given her some meds to help deal with any pain that she might get but it's now just a matter of time! Excuse my language but this year has been totally fu*×*ng sh1te, sh1te, sh1te!!! 💔💔

Very, very sad - it's always hard to let go, as you know. It's been a bad year, for you, hasn't it?

Well, this year got worse this morning..  Daisy was unable to put any weight at all on her back leg and when I went to give her breakfast she just looked at her food, looked up at me and said 'Dad, I've had enough now'.

So, about 11.30 we took her to our vet and we said a very tearful goodbye to our gorgeous, kindest, caring most beautiful Daisy.. From the moment we picked her up as a big eared puppy 10 yrs ago to this morning when we said our last goodbye, she was loyal & faithful right to the end, hopefully we will see her one day at the Rainbow Bridge!
My very first and very last photo's of my furbaby!
RIP Daisy

As a dear, even more elderly (than me) friend told me when we lost our dear JRT a few weeks ago, 'You buy-in to a dog, they give you love, loyalty and friendship for their whole life, but there's always a pay-back at the end'.

So very sorry for you all, and please take each day as it comes.

Oh it just keeps coming doesn’t it  :(

17 is a grand old age for a cat though.  Not much comfort right now I am sure, but Elliott had a long and happy life.

Absolutely.. this year has been one of the worst I can ever remember for losing loved ones and bad news.. it's just been like a long slow avalanche of cr@p! Thank you for all your kind comments everyone.. they mean a lot and I'm sure next year will be a far better one!

I'm so sorry you've had such a rotten year, losing a pet doesn't describe the pain you feel. The only consolation is that you did your best for them for however long was given.
Hope 2022 is much better for you and us all, to be honest.

My deepest condolences Andy.

We've had quite a few dogs and cats over the years, and have loved them all for their unique personalities.  The toughest part is saying goodbye, but you did the right thing for your old girl.
