Muscaria - Plenty of leaves, no flowe buds...yet
« on: February 20, 2012, 08:06 »
Well after one of the mildest winters on record followed by a recent cold snap, my Muscaria have had their leaves develop since November, whereas normally I'd expect to see that begin around now. As they seem so early I would have thought by now there would be early flowering or at least some sign of flower buds appearing in the crowns, but so far no sign of these. Anyone having a similar experience?

Looking out the window I can see a forest of leaves but no buds as yet.

I find these throw up leaves early, the are like that for ages before the flowers show. The flowers will come.

My Muscari have been in flower for a few days now, see attached pic. I grow them in containers.

That's interesting. A few of my older Muscaria are flowering. But all the new ones I planted last October threw leaves a month later, and I'm just starting to see the odd flower bud in the crown in only a few of them so far.
