A lot of these 'channel island' plants aren't grown there!! they are grown in cambridgeshire, (delamores) shipped out to the channel isles, then re-sent to england!! (something to do with export duties / tariffs) and eec subsidies!!
you couldn't make it up! ;)

As long as they are good quality plants I would overlook their airmiles.
Others might not........

I have recently had dealings with Broadleigh bulbs in Taunton, Devon.  Beware, they sell specialist plants at expensive prices and delivwer very small bare-rooted plants, which are not what one would expect at £4.00 per plant.  Their attitude is very superior as though this is what one should expect from such a specialist company and then not answer questioning e-mails.  I only hope that next Spring what I have invested in will in fact still be alive.  I have questioned the quality of their stock, but feel very uneasy as to any replacement or refund should the very frail plants fail.  I will not recommend or use this company in the future.

Thank you so much for the recommend Goose.
I received a delivery a few weeks ago of some primula and they are romping along in the green house.
Much obliged.

I bought polyanthus plugs half-price - mail order from a fairly big nursery. Potted up into pots and now planted out in the garden - excellent buy!!  :)

Are we allowed to mention the name of the nurseries where we were pleased, or otherwise, on the Forum?  We don't like to offend the companies, but could we warn other members of the merits and failures?

We have to be a little careful about criticism, particularly as we do have site sponsors, but praise is always worth hearing about.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
