ivermectin for worming?

ivermectin for worming?

Hi.  My vet has given me ivermectin to treat my girls for worms.  When I got the bottle home I looked at the label and it said that its a mite and anti parasite treatment.  Has anyone else used ivermectin for treating worms?

The first time I needed to worm my vet gave me Ivermectin (the one for cattle) - Do be aware that I think there is an egg withdrawal period if used (my vet did not advise me of this!!)  The best wormer to use is Flubenvet but it is difficult to obtain at the moment, this has no withdrawal period for eggs and 7 days for meat. :)

vets may also prescribe Panacur for worming, with both Panacur and Ivermectin wormers do ask about egg withdrawal as Sassy has said - if in doubt then do not eat the eggs for at least 2 weeks.

Worms are parasites so your vet did right with her prescription  :).

Thank you.  Yes, he told me not to eat their eggs for 7 days - not that they are laying yet.  Well, I did have one the other day.... ::)
