I got an arbour with sides, seat and roof that i bought at a bargin price of 35 from ebay. Now to put it up --do i just put it on the ground / stand it on a paving stone base / concrete it in or buy some post support spikes.

Was part of the bargain that there were no instructions?

Not much detail to go on (a pic or a link to the ad would help) but as a general rule any substantial structure needs good anchorage to keep it in place, especially one with a roof.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

No there were no instructions but have down loaded the instruction for a similar one at b and q. brand new price 312. So I know how to put it up. I will ask at the store for their advice

Check out the length of the legs beneath the seat... if they are long then burying them is what is expected by the manufacturer, usually using postmix. If not, you will need to secure it somehow from the possibility of falling over, by attaching it to a fence behind or to paving slabs with those flat met post attachments.

Hope that helps
