Hi there,
Me and other half just sat discussing the girls and wondering if they are asleep and hubby asked me if  a) they sleep and
b) they snore :D

what does anyone else think?

yes if you go to their coop when they are asleep and you can listen to them - some snore (not very loudly) but others make little whistling type of noises  :D
Staffies are softer than you think.

When mine are on their perches at night and I go out to lock them in they sound as if they are muttering under their breath - wonder what they are saying  ::) ::)

Personally I avoid sleeping with mine so I wouldn't know, but I expect Joy's right!

My mother used to snore horribly!  I don't know where people get the idea that it's just men who snore - I can vouch for the fact women do too!  Fortunately it doesn't seem to be hereditary...

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I have been seriously considering getting a baby monitor for my new chickens!  I will be getting 6-week-olds in a couple of weeks and of course suddenly there's a strange cat hanging around.  We've never seen this cat before... I wonder if it can read our minds and knows some vulnerable wee chicks will be living here soon?

The coop is way down the far end of the garden and I would never hear anything if a cat got in the coop one night and terrorised the poor babies.  So the obvious answer is a wireless baby monitor!  :)

But now with all this talk of snoring and talking in their sleep, I'm scared I'll end up like one of those sleep-deprived, over-anxious new parents!

you most certainly will .
If the coop is locked up at night then the cat can't get in so don't worry and when your hens get bigger they will soon show the cat where to go  :D.
What sort of chicks are you getting?

It's just occured to me we could get GrannieAnnie to ask her other half Brian if they snore as I note she said in a recent post that "With Brian, I've been keeping chooks for 15 years now".   see
