I've had a drawf rhody for about 3 years, it's quite leggy, should I prune it, if so when.  Any tips on this shrub would be appreciated.

Rhodos flower on the previous year's woody growth, so pruning stright after flowering would mean you don't miss a year's flowers

So am I right in thinking, it's too late now to prune back .

If there is new growth coming out from where the old flower was, usually in two or three separate shoots, then yes, it is too late.
