Just found three bags of Daffodil bulbs under the stairs... I have no idea how they got there or how long they have been there!

Am I too late to stick them in the ground? A few have produced shoots.

I'd have thought it unlikely that they'll do much cos they haven't developed a root system in the ground yet - but it might be worth bunging some in just to see.  I'm not a bulb expert after all!!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

No, I thought the same. Seemed a terrible waste not to try though.  :(

They will grow but flower late. Will be OK and flower normally when they come up again next year.

Similiar thing happened to me - bought two bags for daughters new house then could not get up there at any time when weather was half decent so brought all home again and planted in pots in December. I thought pots best as I can give some shelter and use better draining soil so not at risk of rotting in wet ground before roots form and start to shoot. They are running very late but will get there OK. So go for it.

I've been known to buy spring-flowering bulbs when they're being reduced after Christmas, and delay planting as long as possible to extend the cutting period.  Apart from anything else, you have glorious spring bulbs through to April (maybe into May with late tulips), and then nothing for the house until your main lot of summer annuals come in in June and July.  Can anyone suggest alternatives, as I end up with a lot of bulbs!

Thanks for the post.  I found a bag of bulbs I'd forgotten about in the shed last week an didn't think there was much hope for them.  Lots of little sprouts.  Will get them in as soon as Shropshire thaws out.
