A vat of cottage pie base is in the slow cooker - I chanced on some bargain mince in t*sco last night.  So some of it will get topped with mince for tonight
Mince topped with mince eh? A new recipe for cottage pie for those on a low-carb diet maybe

I was late back yesterday, so I was on toast when I got back.  OH had been left pasta bake to reheat.

Its a day out of sync for fish Friday. but we are having salmon fillets tonight, with couscous and veg.  Well we will be once I pop into work and pick up my shopping that I left there last night  ::)

Some haddock fillets yesterday with mash on the side, so sort of fish pie
Morrisons had some of their hot cross bun loaves, so tucked into that.

Have some friends of ours coming over today and they mentioned to OH that they really enjoyed what I did last time they came.
So for lunch its mince casserole, roosters and hopefully their mentioned donated cabbage.
A short walk with them to the beach after lunch. I know they only want to come to pick some seaweed and shells for their allotment :)
Lasagne with some picked spinach for tea.
Got four baguettes rising now.
Waitrose French Crème Brûlée for afters.

Oh duh!!   My fingers run away with me sometimes.  So does my mouth ...  and that gets me into even more trouble!   ::)

Some more of that pesky mince tonight as burgers, with grilled toms and mushrooms, sprouts and mash and spoon standing onion gravy.  A de-constructed cottage pie you could call it if it was a posh restaurant!

We're a day out of sync for fish as well as I work late on a Friday.  Whitebait and salad for us as I really fancied some lettuce and was getting bored with veg, so it will make a nice change.

I've been eating cake and chocolate and bits and bob's all day, with GC, so just cheese & tomatoes on toast for me

I've just put a ham hock in the slow cooker - so tonight will be ham off the bone, with steamed pots in parsley sauce, and sprouts if it stops raining.  Runners if not.

Poor timing, went picking in torrential rain for Brussels sprouts, parsnips, leeks and carrots and a trip to the potato shed. Had to use the hose to get most of the mud off the veg and my shoes.
Come indoors and its now a glorious sunny day. So much for the forecast of rain all day!

That lot above with a Roast beef joint and yorkshires.
Shop bought Turnips, swede and cauliflower to accompany.

Our guests from yesterday bought down a load of concentrated fig blocks down for the freezer that they make and grow themselves. They know we make our own yoghurt and thought we could mix some of it in.
Had a little taste this morning with a new batch of yogurt and its delicious.

Making a sandwich loaf so we can have some roast beef and horseradish sandwiches for a late supper snack.

Sort-of-sausagemeat stuffing in a Celebration squash, roasted with onions, spinach to go with it.
Berries in jelly for pud.

Thanks CQ, it's a recipe I've done for over 30 years, makes a wonderful soup with the stocked carcass, its sweet martini but today I used up the last drop of pimms which worked equally well. So now I can start on the new bottle of pimms, when I get some homegrown strawberries & mint! Might be a few months hey?

The other cottage pie I made a few days ago, with curly kale.  Very easy and an excuse for a stroll in the sunshine!

Chicken dinner as was working yesterday, so no time for a roast.  Quite fancy yorkshire puds with it.  Not traditional I know, but I feel the need  :D
