I picked up a few tomato plants going cheap at the garden centre, but they weren't names - I just know I got different varieties because they were in different coloured pots.

(the garden centre isn't disorganised, at the beginning of the season they put out trays of six of the same all necely labelled, but by this time of year, you are left with a lot of oddments as people change out a couple here and there)

They vary in height from about 6ins to 18ins, and at the moment all look fairly straight up and down with no signs of bushiness, but perhaps they are still too small to produce sideshoots?

Also, I have these known varieties, but they weren't stated on the pot of they are cordon or bush (is that the same as determinate and indeterminate?  )

Yellow pear
Trilly
Black Crim
Gold Rush
Green Zebra

(yes I'm hoping for some colourful salads a bit later on ;) )

Thanks :D

I've had yellow per before Casey, and they are cordon, and green zebra sound like the yellow derby striped ones I grew a couple of years ago. They were cordon too, but I've never grown any of the others.

I think black crim are also cordon, but wait a bit as I know others on here have grown them!

Black Krim - definitely cordon.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Stop being picky Dave  :tongue2: They are clearly labelled "Crim" on the pot... however spelling and the local names of varieties are often slightly different here in France, which can make life a bit difficult back checking against UK sites  ::)

Indetermiate,  stright up and down as the letter initial  'I' so your indeterminate should be stright up and down as well.

Aide memoire.    Cheers,    Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !
