Title: Homemade wormery
Post by: the witters on February 10, 2011, 17:16
Hi all  I am looking to make a wooden wormery for the garden.

I have seen a couple for sale from various sources but the price is off-putting at over £100 each! plus I would need to purchase a starter kit which brings the price nearer £150. (sits down!)

Does anyone out there know of any plans to build your own or has built one and is willing to share their plans/ ideas? I particularly want something that looks good in the garden along the lines similar to a wooden "beehive" design.

 I dont want much do I !

I am reasonably adept with woodworking and am happy to scratch build.

Look forward to hearing from you!

I saw a thing about making a stacking 'beehive' compost bin in the book 'allotment month by month' by alan buckingham (my 2nd favourite allotment book after John's Essential Allotment Guide). If you adapted that with galvanised mesh under each layer and a plastic-lined collector layer at the bottom (with tap?) you'd get what you're after I think
