:o A fellow plotter told me today that borage is good as a companion to certain veggies.
Can anyone tell me what it grows like and whcich veggies it is good for :?:

... it has big oval almost furry leaves and pretty blue starry flowers.  You can use the flowers in salads and even Pimms.

It's supposed to be a good companion for strawberries and tomatoes ... I know commercial strawberry growers often plant it so there must be something in it.  It's supposed to improve the flavour and yield.

I grew some from seed last year and I'm pleased to say I have about 6 or 7 self seeded plants for this year.  And they're actually in flower right now, way earlier than those I raised last year.

And it's a magnet for bees and hoverflies.

... it's funny isn't it.  I had no problem with it, and now I've got plants on my plot, it's self seeding like billy-o!

I will never understand the vagaries of germinating seeds!

Just be aware that once you've had it, it'll self-seed like mad and come up every year!
But if you really want it you'll need to sow it outside because it doesn't like being disturbed.
Would-be organic but still learning!
