Chicks with dirty bottoms!
« on: March 19, 2008, 22:15 »
The chicks will be a week old tomorrow, and I've noticed today that several of them hae poo stuck to their bottoms!

I never had this with the 300 chicks.  any idea what's wrong anyone?  They have their chick crumb in 3 trough feeders and eat like there's no tomorrow, they have 3 1 litre drinkers in their shed, and before I put them in their it was washed and discinfected out and sprayed with poultryshield and the heat lamps put in their for 3 days to dry it out before they arrived.

I've washed them off and they happily wandered back with the others.

any ideas gratefully received!!!!!

Thanks Munty, but they didn't have dirty bums until 4 days old, so wouldn't have thought it was from the cramped conditions in the box.  However, after washing and gently removing the poop, there are no red bums!  Just thought they may have had a bit of diarrhoea.

I'll see how they go now!
