after all the rain we've had the ground is nice and wet is it ok
to put grass cuttings along the ridges of my hoed up spuds
as a mulch...am being a bit optomistic and hoping for a dry spell :wink:

Some people do, I don't. I find damp cuttings tend to start composting quickly and you don't want this against your spuds. I've found that putting the cuttings in the paths between rows is working very nicely - good groundcover, weed suppresant, and it will get rotovated later with the rest of the plot.

I never like to use grass cuttings on their own, They can end up a rotting stinking slimey mess. Far better to mix with other veg matter or leaf mold and compost down before using.
