Day old chicks
« on: June 24, 2009, 19:03 »
I have some day old chicks that need some food, and I haven't been able to get any chickcrumbs?

What else can I give them over night???

Did you hatch them or were they given to you ?

If given to you could the giver let you have some crumbs,  if you hatched them you've had 3 weeks ...

Some boiled egg yolk might see them through the night.

Presume you have got them under some form of heat?

Panic over - PHEW!!

Got some chick crumbs off my friend, they are now busy scoffing them.

They are under a halogen desk lamp. This should give them warmth. Should I put in a hot water bottle or put a heater in the room?

Be carefull the halogen lamp doesn't burn them, use a 60 watt light bulb suspended above them.
