Wait til Munty gets here and he'll say........

Welsummers, Welsummers Welsummers!!!!!!!  He says they are good as both.

We have hybrids for laying, Amberlinks and Bovans Goldline's at the moment, and last time we had Sasso's for meat.

if you want a proper meat bird fo the tabke then go that way .for eggs go for an egg layer i eat wellies cos i only raised them for both ,they gave me what i needed in eggs primarily . go sasss for the meat .. wels for the eggs ..sassos eat out at 45 weeks for a decent bird ,nannie may dissagree .( she usually does   ) wels wil give you eggs to carry you through the year .regular growers pellets and then layers for the egg birds .growers for the meat birds til slaughter

i will have to think more on this,
eggs and meat=wellies
just eggs=wellies
just meat=sass

is there a big noticeable difference in the meat then or is there more meat to be had on one or tuther.

cheers munty, i've  kept chickens before as pets and a few eggs for the kids, but now they will have to earn their keep so the outcome of my post important this time round. seperating them is no prob as i can split the coop easily and the run, just positioning of the coop to the run solve that. will probably get 3 for just laying and 6 for eating as the eaters will still give a few eggs i suppose. i have seen the pics of your wellies but do you know if there is a pic of the sasss

right how does this sound, my birds for the table wont give me eggs as they are not mature enough, am i right so far, if so from say 4 wellies i will get a few eggs a day which should be enough for the missus indoors throughout the year. then get 8 or so sassos keeping one or two for reprodution and then in theory saying goodbye to tesco chickin :D  :D  :D
