Title: limping chicken
Post by: Catsmuvva on March 20, 2011, 15:53
Rosie has been limping for a while now. I'm not too concerned as she doesn't seem to be bothered by it but wondered if anyone had any thoughts.

I have checked her foot for anything out of the ordinary eg bumblefoot, scaly leg or damaged claws - all seems ok. The limp seems more pronounced when she's legging it across the lawn for treats or out of curiosity, and occasionally she rests her leg by lifting it under her (not while she's running, obviously )

does it feel warm to the touch? if so it could be a break or sprain.

No, doesn't feel any different to her other foot, neither does it look any different. She's been coping with it for a couple of weeks or more, and like I said, it doesn't seem to bother her. I originally thought she may have pulled a muscle or sprained it, as you suggest, and she'd just rest it up. Sometimes she forgets to limp...

Also, when I've checked her over she doesn't get agitated or distressed.
