Help! Rotting eggs?

thanks Aunt Sally....

hope it helps the young fella on his way.......it is sooo  disapointing when eggs dont hatch...

Franki

it is fantastic that someone at 16 is interested in hatching as well as keeping birds....it is a brilliant hobby.

i started 40 years ago with hatching birds as a hobby, and after word got out, i was selling eggs and birds. the money i made was only enough to cover the cost of feed at the time, but what more could i want....a hobby that didn't cost me anything....lol...

i have progressed over the ( many lol ) years into specialising in one breed of bird, and i have never looked back.

over the years i have also tried different makes and models of incubator, but i have always gone back to the one i feel most comfortable with, and the one i have had most success with. ( tried and tested always wins in the end ..lol ).

you will get lots of great advice on here,

and the best advice i can give you is give it a go....dont give up......write down everything you do, and everything that goes right aswell as everything that goes wrong......that way you can record and learn where things are working or not, and change accordingly.

good luck.

Thank you to everyone who has posted on this board. I've got some very useful advice now, and am hoping to buy another six silkie eggs soon to put into my incubator (which I'm just about to disinfect).
It's a sad truth where I live, however the boys in the area love to do the opposite of myself. They shoot birds. Not just game birds, also robins, black birds, most song birds, and even starlings and herrons. They also love to brag to me -whom they know loves animals and giving life ot the world- about standing on hedgehogs -I was actually burrying one the other day- and breaking the necks of golden finches -I put it in a dark quiet place until I was sure it had finally died.
They're unstoppable, and ironically the same neighbers taking care of poultry. Terrible people who have already had many of their birds kulled due to their horrific living conditions.
I honestly don't mind game hunters -seeing as they have some respect in what they do. However these idiotic kids, barely my age have no respect for any animal or person.
In bringing chickens to my garden (and later introducing ring necked Pheasents to the community) I hope some how to out weigh their terrible thirst to kill.

By the way, I am a girl :]

Well done (Miss) Frankie.  It is so refreshing to know that a young person like you has such a genuine love of and respect for animal life, don't let anyone change that.

It's great to have you as a forum member  :!:  :D

*Pets Todd* I'm hoping to later open up a shelter for orphaned birds and small mammels, so I'm going onto a veterinary nursing course after school.
Does anyone know how to make the size of a file smaller? Sorry >.< I'm not very computer wise either.

Curse you all ^-^ I'm a girl darn you!  :D
