When in doubt, check.

I hope 'those in authority' don't mind me repeating this email.

Thank you for your recent email enquiry regarding the suitability of Ultimate Bug Killer Concentrate 2 on plum trees.

Provado Ultimate Bug Killer Concentrate 2 has only been tested and approved for use on the named edibles listed on the back of the bottle but this does not include plums or any other top fruit.  As no data has been collated or submitted to the authorities supporting the use of this insecticide on plum trees we are not able to recommend it use for the control of pests.

Although you have not stated which pest you intend to control i am able to recommend a contact insecticide which has full approval for use on all top fruit including plum trees and which will kill a wide range of insect pests.  As with all contact insecticide the timing of application is very important both in terms of using it at the most optimum time when the target pests are mobile and active and to apply this broad spectrum insecticide when the trees are either in tight bud stage or at blossom fall to minimise the chances of harming beneficial pollinating insect.  It should also be noted that these type of insecticides are sprayed first thing in the morning or preferably in the evening when foraging insects are more likely to be in their nest.

This insecticide is called Fruit and Vegetable Bug Killer or Sprayday Greenfly Killer.  These insecticides contain the active ingredient deltamethrin and is sold as a liquid concentrate (30 ml) bottles.  The Fruit and Veg Bug Killer is also available in a 1 lt ready to use.

As the lady said, I was thinking of using one bug killer,  but I thought I would just check.     Cheers,     Tony.

Tony, d'you mind me knowing what 'bug' you were after dealing with on your plum tree?

It was plum moth sunny.  Tony asked me what I used to spray my tree and I use Provado Ultimate.  He has gone to the trouble of asking the manufacturer if it is suitable and this is their reply.

I shall continue in my merry way. :)
