Aldi Fruit Trees (again)
« on: February 10, 2012, 16:58 »
Not seen them advertised - but Aldi have fruit trees at £3.99. 3 kinds of apple, pear, cherry, plum and peach. Good strong trees too. Best I've seen in Aldi for ages - and comparable - or better than those I've just got from internet @ £11!!!

Nice mention, just make sure you know what rootstock they are or you'll end up with monster trees that take over your allotment and that of your neighbours too!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

2 big boxes of them at the Exeter store.  Trees are about 5 foot with lots of roots, spotted Cox's Orange Pippin, Golden Delicious, Conference Pear and Plum.

Been today and got 2 apples, 1 pear. 1 cherry and a peach. Not grown peaches before but what can you lose at £3.99 each?

Suppose the answer is you can lose £3.99!!!

Yarm branch had Braeburns as well. They said 'When they're gone they're gone" Looked good strong trees. We decided that didnt need one though/

I bought eight trees last year, and one didn't revive, I took it back this year and they simply gave me a new one.
I bought another two, I agree they are a better quality than before.

Bought one cherry tree (Morello), it's planted, supported, and with chicken poo pellets mixed in and liberally spread, we wait for spring.

got an email from aldi stating the following rootstocks are,

The apples are on MM106 or M26 depending on variety,
The pears are on Quince A,
The plums are on St Julien,

So now we know  ;)
when it comes to age we are all on the same boat.......But some of us  have been on board that that little bit longer
