Does anyone have any advice on where to buy blueberry plants?
There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don't.

I bought 2 blueberry plants last year from Thompson and morgan, they came in one litre pots I think. You can also get them from the Dorset blueberry company (I think) and a lot of other places.

I put them each into large 60cm diameter pots in ericaceous soil and they have grown to about 3 -4 times their size already. The Earliblue has a good crop of flowers on it already so I am hopeful that I will get plenty berries this year.
Organic :)

This is my first post to your excellent forum.  I bought three blueberry bushes from Thomson & Morgan lst spring.   They grew very well and had a very good crop of berries.  I waited till I thought they were almost ripe but left them till I was sure that they were really ripe and in one day the three bushes were stripped of berries by our many garden birds.  The lesson learned is that these bushes should be protected with a net or similar from the time that the berries are almost ripe.

Thanks, I should maybe re-phrase the question:
Where is the BEST place to buy them? Should places like B&Q be avoided, or are they OK?

I suspect that the DIY places are fine to buy them, I would certainly have got them there, only I didn't see any.
You are more likely to get a greater choice of varieties if you shop online or in a catalogue.

I read that if you have two different varieties then you should expect more berries, though you will be fine with one plant.

Hi Buckie, and welcome.  I sometimes don't think it matters where you buy fruit trees and bushes from. I've bought stuff from B&Q and Wilko's that has done well,  and trees from Ken Muir which were more expensive and supposedly good stock which hasn't done very well.

But that is only my personal opinion

Thanks for your welcome, I don't come from Buckie but from Loch Lomond area.  I have been in the garden most of today, firstly rotovating with a Mantis them planting my onion sets.  I find the Mantis a bit weak on my heavy soil but it certainly creates a wonderful tilth for planting out.  As a matter on interest having experimented last year, I have planted all of this years potato crop in plastic bags, main crop with one potato per bag and first earlies in larger bags containing five seed potatoes. I am also trying a "potato barrel" in my greenhouse which has already potato shaws of three feet high, hopefully I should have my first crop by mid May.  Will keep you posted.  I have just been out to close my cold frame but as the temperature is an amazing 50 degrees and no forecast of frost I will risk leaving it open.
