Huge Rhododendron
« on: February 26, 2009, 15:47 »
Hi All

Could you give me some advise please.

I have a HUGE rhododendron in my garden, it is getting a little too large now and we need to prune it - but when, before it flowers or after? ;)

My mother prunes hers after flowering, so she doesn't waste the buds that have already formed.  I've no idea if that's correct or not, though!  They're pretty tough (assuming it's the common-or-garden purple sort), so you can hack it back hard and it'll soon recover itself.
