If you like them, some early spinach and lettuce are quick growers. Cukes? I think you could even direct seed parsnips now that the weather is warmer. You'd still get a respectable crop by fall. Fruit bushes?

Any of the Sarpo culitivars.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

And then you well know, he is unlikely to get hold of any of them now, also, late crop.

But the thing is Nathan, there aren't other, really resistant varieties about, somewhat tolerant or has good tuber resistance things I'd recommend Sante and Orla, if you can find them as they are fast and have reasonable standing against most things.

I've just sowed some sugar snap peas, broad beans, runner beans and garden peas.

Also some pumpkin and butter nut squash and purple sprouting broccoli.

Nice work getting a plot so fast!

they look great dave,

i read that they may be the best ones for me to grow.

silly question, whats the best way to sow them, is it in a 5 formation like a dice?  or is there a better/diffrent way?

thanks again

This is one recommended pattern...

In practice as there's a lot, it's throw them in & hope it averages out. I tend to chuck more in to allow for predators, rot, poor germination etc..

HI Nathan - nice work! I've planted my peas out without protection...but I have a fleece handy to throw over them just in case. Mangetout are also good to plant now. I've had very good success with a dwarf runner called Hestia. French beans are also good for sowing. Plus turnips, beetroot, spring onions, lettuce, rocket, radish...
